Abstract Submission Instructions - Second National Conference on USGS Health-Related Research

(If you have already submitted an abstract, for the original date, you do not need to resubmit, unless you want to update the abstract.)

The USGS will publish the abstracts in the February meeting program. In order to incorporate your abstract and author information we ask that you format and submit your abstract using the following guidelines.

1. Use Times new Roman, 12 point font.
2. Use 1-inch margins on all borders.
3. Text should be single-spaced.
4. Left justify and double space between paragraphs.
5. Abstract text should contain no more than 350 words and must fit into the text box provided, including tables and graphics.
6. The preferred file format is Microsoft Word ’95 Version 7.0 or higher.
7. Abstract title should be Mixed Font and bold typed.
8. Presenting author should be in italics and indicated by an asterisk (*)
9. Author affiliation, city, and state should follow each name.
10. Format your abstract as shown:
11. Please list the topical section you would like to be included in on a separate line at the bottom of your abstract text document.
    Topical sections are:
    1. Exposure to Toxic Contaminants in Air and Dust
    2. Chemical and Pathogen Contamination Exposure by Drinking Water
    3. Animals as Sentinels of Human Health
    4. Human Consumption of Bioaccumulative Contaminants
    5. Pathogen Exposure through Recreational Waters
    6. Zoonotic and Vector Borne Diseases

Briefly introduce the presentation topic. List the study objective(s) to explain the rationale for conducting the study. Indicate the study methods, results and conclusions. State the relevance of the study and any future work that may ensue as a result of this work.

Abstract text should not contain more than 350 words. Abstracts exceeding the provided text box space, including title, author names, affiliations, text, table(s), and graphic(s) will not be accepted. We do not recommend including tables or graphics in the abstract.

Presenters will receive further instructions when they are notified of the abstract status, including applicable poster guidelines.

Questions should be directed to Dale Griffin by phone or email. Please attach the abstract as a MS Word document to an email submission to Dale Griffin (dgriffin@usgs.gov). Abstracts will only be accepted electronically via email. Please include the phrase “Human Health 2007 Abstract” in the subject header when you submit the abstract. Confirmations of received abstracts will be sent electronically.
